National Register of Sworn Translators and Interpreters (TIJ) and Legalization

Since January 1st, 2020, the National Register of Sworn Translators and Interpreters (TIJ) administration in Brussels has been responsible for the legalization of sworn translations.

The legalization department of the Court of First Instance of Brussels does no longer offer legalization services.

Since 1 January 2021, legalization of sworn translations from across the country has been centralized under the legalization department of the National Register.

As of March 1, 2021, sworn translators with their new official stamp must no longer submit their sworn translations to the legalization department. This new official stamp has official value of legalization. This helps to suppress delays in the treatment of legalizations.

MediaTranslation received its official stamp in February 2021.
